“Don’t forget to relax and take care of yourself. You can’t pour from an empty cup.”

Eleanor Brownn, “The Weird Sisters” (2011)

My own journey to reiki began in my late 20s, working in marketing for a large global company I was seeking ways to relax and manage the stress of the demands of life. I stumbled upon Reiki. I had no idea what it was, or what to expect but I was curious. During my second treatment felt a tingling in my knee where she was working, and I knew I wanted to know more about what was happening.

My curiosity led me to train in Reiki & it’s been a constant tool in my self-help, self-care toolkit ever since. It’s helped ease anxiety from work, healed during my postpartum phase, eased the stresses of life, as well as helped me let go and move on from things emotionally.

I originally trained in the UK (where I’m from), and on my move to California I continued my Reiki training to Master & Teacher level in San Francisco.

It’s finally time to fulfill my long term plan to start my own Reiki practice, and I’m so happy to do so from the beauty of my now home town, Pacifica.

FAQs

While Reiki is gaining popularity, it is still a fairly emerging healing modality. Everyone has questions about Reiki, what to expect and what it can do.

I’ve done my best to answer those here.

  • Reiki is a Japanese energy healing modality. It rebalances your energy flow, allowing you to heal yourself.

  • You will be lying on a massage table fully clothed. I’ll either place my hands on or above your body & move from head to toes in a series of positions.

  • A Reiki Practitioner places their hands on a series of points on the body, along the main Chakras. Your Reiki Practitioner will connect to Universe/ Life Force energy, acting as a conduit of that energy to you.

  • You may feel the Reiki energy as a hot or cold sensation, a tingly or similar feeling. If you don't feel anything at all, that's ok - the Reiki is still doing its thing!

  • Receiving Reiki is a very relaxing experience. Most people drift off, fall asleep, and leave feeling rested. If you have emotional blockages, grieve for example to move through it's not uncommon to cry & release that emotion.
